Seven Characteristics of Good Domain Name For Your Blog.

Good domain names area unit short. it is not a coincidence that every one the three letter and four letter .com domains area inits already gone, which the five letter ones area unit going quick yet.

There is no definite range of characters that you simply  ought to aim for, simply keep in mind that the shorter the higher. If you actually would like some steering attempt to go below ten characters, and never exceed twenty .

As for the amount of words, one word domains area unit gold, two word ones area unit sensible, thre word domains area unit average, and on top of that its typically a foul plan.

.com is Better domain name than others.

Example: Quotes .com may be a very good domain and doubtless price variant green backs. ProQuotes .com may be a sensible two word domain price thousands of green backs. Proquotes.com is apparent no-account.
2. they are straight forward to recollect

Many web users don't use bookmarks. They solely con the domains of their favourite websites and kind them whenever they want to go to one. Guess what, if your domain is advanced and challenging to recollect you may lose guests on the manner.

Example: Jshdn.com may be a short name, how ever isn't straightforward to recollect in the slightest degree, therefore it might be a foul plan to use it for your website (unless the initials represent the name of the website or a unforgettable message).

Moving Some Posts from one Blog To An Other

This article is about how to copy some of the posts from one Blogger blog to another.

Previously, I've written about

moving individual posts, or pages, from one blog to another and
moving all posts from one blog to another.

They are in separate articles because the techniques used are quite different in each case.

If you only want to transfer some posts between two blogs, then you need to choose between:
Moving each post individually,or
Moving all the posts then and deleting the ones you don't want from the "new" blog.

Before you start, decide what should happen to any posts that are already in the destination blog:  if you want to delete them, you need to do it from the Posting / Edit Posts tab (press the delete link beside each one).  Don't just delete the enter blog(from the Settings / Basics tab), because that will remove your access to the URL.

How to decide
Choosing whether to most post individually, or moving all of them is firstly about maths.

You need to estimate the time needed for each option, ie
Time to move a post individually, multiplied by the number of posts to be moved

Time to export and import, plus (time to delete a post times the number of posts that will need to be deleted).

And then choose the smallest one.

Except - you may like to figure in the chance of making a mistake, or of wanting to make small changes to come posts along the way.  Possibly you need to consider which approach you're most comfortable with - so it may not even be about maths at all!

Either way, remember that Pages (see The Difference between Posts and Pages) in the first blog, need to be moved individually because they aren't currently included in the export file.

Advertising On Blogger.

This article discusses some things to keep in mind when you are putting advertising on your blog.

If you are considering putting advertising onto your blog, there are some basic things that you need to think about.  These include broader philosophical questions, right down to nuts-and-bolts technical concerns.

This article is not a definitive guide - see somewhere like ProBlogger for that.   Rather it's a collections of thoughts about the issues specifically related to Google's Blogger and its relationship with advertisers.   And it may include some thoughts about philosophical and policy issues, if I do any deep research or thinkng about these in the future.

Terms and Conditions

There are lots and lots of possible advertising and affiliate marketing programmes.

Staying within the programme of terms and conditions (often called T&C's) for every programme that you participate in is important.   Every advertising programme has terms and conditions.   You need to find the ones that apply to the programme(s) you are considering.  Read them.  Remember them.  Follow them.   Keep up-to-date.

Also, keep an eye on Blogger's T&C's and content policy too, in case they have any impact on what advertising you are allowed to carry.

Advert Co-location

Not every type of advertising can be shown on the same web-page as every other type of advertising.  See the point about about terms-and-conditions.   And besides - you need some space on your blog for content, which is what keeps advertisement-viewers coming to you in the first place!

Blogger doesn't have any automatic support for conditionally showing advertising.  If any programme you have has constraints like this, then you may need to do some programming in order to use that programme.

Placing ads

If you want to use advertising that isn't integrated with Blogger through the Monetize tab, then you're going to have to place blocks of HTML code into gadgets or into pages.

You don't have to write the code (the advertising network does that), or change it.  You just have to copy and paste it, and put the HTML into your blog, wherever you want the advertising to do.   (Note:  HTML and Javascript are the only types of code you can use.   No SQL.   No php.)

If you're not comfortable-enough doing this with the Blogger template that you have, then stick to the Blogger-endorsed programmes that can be added through the Monetize tab.

Experiment, and Track Progress

Marketing is an art and science.   So can use scientific techniques for data gathering.   Experiment with altrnative ad-placement.   Maybe even create a 2nd non-public blog where you can test how things look when you set up ads (and other gadgets, for that matter).  Only put them into your real blog when you're happy with how they work.   Once your ad is live, track your progress.

To effectively track progress, you need to keep a list of the date when you made changes to your site, and then do regular data-analysis to see what effect these changes have on your number of visitors, and their behaviour.    This is tedious - but if you really want to know what works and what doesn't, it needs to be done.

Watch your ad-contents

Make sure you know what types of things the programme you have chosen is advertising.  With Blogger, you (we!) are getting web-hosting for "free" (we have to watch their ads), and domain registration very cheaply.   Make sure that the advertising you use doesn't cause you to violate Blogger's terms and conditions.  I'm thinking especially about Adult/Pornographic content here, but I guess it could apply to other things too.

If you are using AdSense, it's pretty much essential to manage the categories of ads that AdSense displays.

How will you get paid

Some advertising programmes are very easy to be part of:  they give you ad, and pay you regularly.   Other's are more difficult.   Worst case, you may find that some options are totally unuseable for you, because they cannot make payments in your contry.   Or the cost of getting paid is extremely high - ProBlogger has written before about thetransaction time and cost of every payment he receives from Amazon.com.

Get Adsense Account From Blogger

This article is about the issues involved with using AdSense ads on Blogger blogs.  It discusses some things you should do (using the AdSense application), even though Blogger doesn't currently enforce them.

Blogger have made it very easy for you to put AdSense ads onto your Blog: you simply go into theEarnings tab, and go through an apparently simple sign-up process.

But there are a few things that you should be aware of, and they're not all obvious from the information that you are given initially.

There's a two-step sign-up process - and if you are successful, there are things that you a really should to to protect yourself from people who might do things to damage your account.

Read on for more details.

Getting Started

Go into Blogger's Earning's tab, and say where you want the ads to appear

(Initially, just accept the recommended option:  you can choose the ad positions again later, and when you do, you will be able to customise various ad-features, eg colors, as well.)

Either choose an existing account, or apply for a new one by filling out the form they give you.

Each person is only allowed one AdSense account so you must  always use an existing account if you have one.

If you don't already have an AdSense account, think carefully about what Google account it should be associated with.   (I made a mistake initially, and almost set mine up on an account that I want to give away one day - luckily I got help from Google to sort it out, but it could have been a major mistake.

  • have read the AdSense Program Policies.
  • can get cheques made out to the name you've given.

From the Blogger side you may think that this is all that is needed.   But that's not quite true:  Bloggers who apply to AdSense needs to go through the same application and approval process as anyone else, they just have a simpler way than most of providing the necessary information to Google.   And completing that form is just the first step.

Approval Process

Update @ January 2013:

If your blog uses a .blogspot domain, there is now an updated one-step approval process for hosted-publishers.

But if you use a custom domain, the following information about the two-step process still applies.

And I suspect - but have not yet confirmed - that if you switch your blog from blogspot to a custom domain after you have signed up via the one-step process, then you will have to go through the two-step process on the new domain.

Original information:

Google do a two step process, beginning with preliminary checks on the site and the submitted details.   If the application passes through this first stage, Google

Notify you by email,
Give you "account access", and
Give you some ad code to place on the submitted site. You must put the ad code on your site, as the review process can’t be completed until the ad code is implemented.

Real advertisements don't appear once the initial ad-code is put onto the site.   Instead, temporary "blank ads" are placed that blend in with the background.    And if you log in to your AdSense account at this stage, you'll see a note saying that you are still under review.

After you've placed the review code, Google look at your site again, and decide whether or not to accept you as a publisher.    Then they send you an email, telling you the decision.

Top Earning Blogs and How they Make Money Blogging

How-Much-Do-Bloggers-Earn

The top earning blogs in the world are generating millions of dollars every month. However, blogging is not just about million dollar blogs… actually the majority of blogs on the internet don’t make more than $2,000 per year.
Understanding how these blogs make money, what the end goal for their sites are and how they turn their content into a business is what’s most important for bloggers of all niches and sizes to understand.
That is exactly what we are going to be covering in this post — and even more exciting, we have an infographic to break down the key points as well!

Breaking Down the Different Types of Bloggers in the Blogosphere

There are well over 100 million blogs in the world today and thousands of new content pieces and articles are going live every hour. This means you are up against a world of competition when you start a blog, so it’s extremely important for you to quickly discover what type of blogger you are going to be and where you would like to be six months to a year from now.

The Entrepreneur

How Much Are Bloggers Earning with their Blogs?

As mentioned, most blogs simply don’t make enough money to be considered a full time job or a legitimate source of income. Stats show that only 14% of bloggers are actually earning any money through their blog at all. This could be for a number of reasons, such as blogs being for non-profit, a hobby or the blogger simply has no idea how to get started or isn’t getting enough traffic to their sites.
Let’s take a look at this breakdWown of how much bloggers are actually earning with their blogs:
$24,086 is the average annual earnings
$33,557 average annual earnings for corporate bloggers
$1,000/year is what the average blogger earns when they are getting paid to post content to their site.

However, for those blogs that are generating revenue off their content and traffic, there are many different methods for them to choose from.
The most popular blog monetization methods are through Google Adsense, direct banner advertising and affiliate marketing. The good news is that these monetization methods scale across all niches and platforms, which means anyone with a blog and a loyal audience can start generating revenue with their blog as long as they put in the time and effort.
A perfect example of a blog that went from nothing to making over a million dollars per year, If you take a look at the site you will notice that there is a lot of banner advertising on the site. Perez could be monetizing his traffic through various different methods such as trying to sell his own products or merchandise, but instead the focus is on paid banner advertising.
When visiting their site, be sure to scroll down and see how many different ad placements are located throughout the site. Banner ad sales for PerezHilton can easily top over $45,000 per month for a single ad campaign.

5 Tips To Realistically Build A Popular Blog

It’s frustrating, isn’t it?
Knowing all of the things that you know and still not being able to take your blog to the next level. The level that’ll catapult you into “popular blogger” status.
I mean, isn’t that the goal that we all have – aside from making money?
Sure you know the things you thought you needed to know. Things like traffic tips. Both on and off page SEO. An enticing “bribe” to capture more readers. Sharing you content on social media platforms.
But regardless of doing these things for months … even years … you’re still not at that point you want to be. And you’re getting frustrated, aren’t you?
I’ll even bet that you’re probably thinking that those popular bloggers just want to keep the “secrets to become a popular blogger” all to themselves. That they don’t even want to share it. That if you’re lucky enough to become a popular blogger someday, you’re lucky enough to have stumbled across the secret.
But you know what?
Shame on you for thinking that way because the actual answer has been in front of you for your whole blogging life.
Listen, I’m no popular blogger but I do have and use common sense. But besides that, the one thing that I do better than almost anything else is pay attention.
I pay attention to what’s going on around me, in blogging, in the news, wherever. And by paying attention to these popular bloggers, I’m strategically putting myself to be in their position one day.
In the meantime, not to be a glory hog, I’ve decided to share with you a few of the more important tips I was able to come up with. By following these tips, you’ll get a better understanding of how they built their blogs to become so popular and how you can do it too.
So, get out your magnifying glass, Sherlock … we’re going to have a look at 5 tips right now.
Tip #1: Emulate What Successful Bloggers Are Doing.
It always amazes me when certain bloggers, who obviously wants to prove that they can make it, try to do this by being original. By being different. By not following what others have previously done.
These bloggers always leave me shaking my head and asking one question.
Why?
Why try to be original? Why try to be different? If others have done it before you, then what sense does it make to re-invent a completely new wheel?
Listen, being original is one thing but the best thing you can do for your blog is to copy other bloggers in your niche. Now, let me clarify what I mean by copy them. I’m not saying for you to blatantly go and copy their content – rather copy certain things they do.
For example, if they have a post that’s very popular, write a post of your own on that topic. If they have a certain “bribe” to get readers to join their mailing list, come up with a similar “bribe” of your own. If you notice that they’re very engaging and active with comments and on social media, do the same.
Emulate them as much as you can, while still being yourself, because they’re obviously doing something right to succeed – and you want to be just as successful as they are.
Note: Make sure that you emulate one successful blogger at a time and do it for considerable amount of time (6 months) before starting to see the results that you want.
Tip 2: Build Relationships With Other Bloggers.
I’ve only been involved with blogging for a little over a year, but it really amazes me how much blogging has changed in the short time I’ve been involved in it. Not too long ago, to be successful blogging, it was all about SEO and choosing long tail keywords to rank for.
While to some degree it’s still that, the blogosphere has drastically changed. More and more it’s all about building relationships with bloggers and relationship marketing – and I couldn’t be more happier.
While I think SEO is important, I feel it’s much more important to build relationships and engage with others.
This can have a longer lasting effect on the success of your blog. But the greatest thing about it is that it’s fairly easy to start.
Here are a few example of how you can start:
Commenting regularly on other blogs.

That’s why it’s important to always try to give your readers what they want. And that’s quality content aimed to helping them or teaching them. Once you deliver on that, they’ll steadily start coming back for more.
So how do you do this? Here’s a few suggestions:
Ask them questions on your social media platforms. (Eg. What is it that you struggle with blogging?)
Visit forums and post a thread. (Eg. What’s the one thing you wish you had known about blogging when you started?)
When you give your readers what they want, chances are very high that they’ll start relying on you for advice and go to your first before they consider someone else.
Note: To know exactly what they want requires alot of research so while it may take a while to write the content, be prepared to work just as hard researching what they want.
